About this product
A complete Thanksgiving dinner for eight, on the table at four o'clock, out of one ordinary oven, cooked by someone who has never roasted a turkey.
The dishes on a Thanksgiving table are not hard. What goes wrong for a first-time host is timing: the turkey is still frozen on Thursday morning, everything wants the oven at once, the gravy gets made in a panic and the sides go cold. This book is built around fixing that. Almost all the cooking moves to Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday gets a plan to the minute, and the side dishes bake in the 45 minutes the turkey rests.
Who it is for
Anyone hosting Thanksgiving for the first time, or the first time without someone more experienced in charge. It assumes you know nothing: it explains what each dish is, what every step is for, and what it should look like when it is right. Thanksgiving 2026 is Thursday 26 November, and every date in the book is for that week.
What makes it different
- Thursday on one clock. A clock face showing what is in the oven, on the stove and in your hands from 10:30 AM to dessert, with oven drawings for each stage, and the same day as an hour-by-hour list with boxes to tick.
- A countdown from three weeks out. A November 2026 calendar and checklist: when to buy the turkey, the exact day to move it to the fridge for its weight, two shopping trips, a fridge plan, and a five-hour Wednesday prep day in an order that uses the oven once.
- The turkey, step by step. Reading the label (and when not to salt it), thawing, salting it a day or two ahead (dry brining) with the salt for each turkey size in Diamond Crystal, Morton, table salt and grams, roasting at 325°F, the three places to take its temperature with worked readings, resting, saving the drippings, and carving in six drawn steps.
- Every recipe split into "ahead" and "on Thursday". Each dish has a photograph with notes on what right looks like, an "It's done when" checklist, a strip showing where it is (fridge, counter, oven, stove, table) and when, a table for when it goes wrong, and ways to change it.
- Food safety from USDA. Thawing times, roasting times, 165°F (74°C) in breast, thigh and wing, stuffing baked outside the bird and the two-hour rule for leftovers are taken from the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service, with sources listed.
The recipes

Everything is written for eight people and a 12 to 14 lb turkey, with a table for 4 to 16 people (including a turkey breast for small tables), and notes for vegetarian, gluten-free and nut-free guests and for a potluck or Friendsgiving.
