About this product
This is a teacher planner and binder designed for classroom teachers who want their lesson plans, class lists and records in one place for a whole school year. No dates are printed on any page, so it works for any school year and any country's term dates. US Letter and A4 are both included, with a fillable edition for typing into.
A teacher's paperwork ends up in five places: a diary, a markbook, a folder of class lists, loose sheets for meetings, and a file on a computer. Dated planners add a second problem. They start in the wrong month for half the world and are out of date by next summer. This planner puts the year's dates, your timetable, your classes, your lesson plans and your records into one binder with six sections, and you can print it again every year.
How it works
Set up once. It takes about twenty minutes, and one page walks you through it with a worked example.
- Print the binder cover and the six section dividers, or open the fillable file and save a copy.
- Copy in the year's dates: terms or semesters, holidays, and the dates you must not miss.
- Write your timetable and your class lists. Each pupil keeps the same row number on every class sheet, so they are easy to find in the gradebook and the register.
- Pick one weekly lesson plan layout. "By subject" is for a teacher with one class all day. "By period" is for a teacher with several classes.
- Each week, print one weekly spread and plan your lessons on it. A table in the planner tells you exactly which page numbers to print, and when.
- Through the year, keep marks, attendance, behaviour notes and parent contact on the record sheets.
Every kind of page has a filled-in example before the blank one, so you see how it works before you use your own.
What is inside (80 pages)
- Start here: a one-page quick start, set up in 20 minutes, a filled-in example week, what to print and when, and a binder cover with a line for your name, class and year.
- The year: year at a glance with 12 undated months, and term or semester dates with holidays.
- My classes: timetable (two filled examples, one for a teacher with one class and one for a teacher with several, then two blanks), three class lists, two seating plans, student information, a parent contact log and birthdays.
- Planning: a long-term plan for the year and unit planners, each with a filled example first.
- Weekly plans: a two-page weekly spread in two layouts, each with a filled example and six blank weeks, plus a daily plan page. Print the same two pages once a week for the rest of the year.
- Records: three gradebook sheets, an assessment tracker, two attendance registers of four weeks each, behaviour notes and a positive notes log.
- Notes and admin: meeting notes, a professional development log, a substitute (cover) teacher sheet with a filled example, a to-do and weekly priorities page, and an end-of-term reflection.
- Six section dividers, each listing its pages, with a tab printed down the edge of every page.
What you download
- The planner in US Letter and A4, for reading on screen.
- A fillable edition in both sizes: every line is a box to type in and every tick box can be clicked.
- A print edition in both sizes, white pages that are light on ink and clear in black and white, in one ZIP with a one-page Start Here sheet.
Good to know
- Both paper sizes are in the download. You do not have to choose when you buy.
- Undated: use it this year, then print it again next year.
- It uses words that work in most countries: grade or year group, semester or term, substitute (cover) teacher. No curriculum or standards are named.
- Class sheets have 26 numbered rows on Letter and 28 on A4. For a bigger class, print the sheet twice.
- Write-in lines are 8 mm apart and tick boxes are at least 5 mm. Side margins are wide enough for a hole punch.
- The fillable edition is made for a desktop PDF reader such as the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. Many phone and tablet apps do not keep typed entries; to handwrite on a tablet, use the print edition.
- Print at 100% or "actual size", not "fit to page".
- There are no medical or safeguarding forms. Follow your school's rules for keeping pupil information, especially if you type it into a file.
