About this product

This is a week-by-week pregnancy journal with a birth plan and a newborn feeding and sleep log, designed for parents expecting a baby.

Most pregnancy books tell you things. This one is for writing in. Appointments, questions, lists and the first days with a baby usually end up spread across a phone, a folder and the backs of envelopes. This book keeps them in one place: half a page for every week, the records and checklists you will be asked for, a birth plan to talk through with your midwife or doctor, and a daily log for the first two weeks after the birth.

How it works

Set up once. It takes about ten minutes.

  1. Read two short pages. They show how the pages work and one week filled in by an example person.
  2. Each week, spend about five minutes on that week's half page: how you felt, what happened, appointments, and questions for your midwife or doctor.
  3. Use the records and lists when you need them: appointments, tests and scans, questions to ask, bag for the birth, baby names, things to get, contacts.
  4. Before the birth, read the example birth plan, fill in your own and talk it through with your midwife or doctor.
  5. After the birth, tick the daily log as the day goes: feeds, sleep and nappies / diapers, hour by hour.

Every blank page has a filled-in example before it, so you never have to guess how a page is meant to be used.

What is inside (67 pages)

  • The weekly journal: weeks 4 to 42, two weeks to a page, with an opening page for each trimester.
  • Records and lists: appointments, tests and scans, questions to ask, an optional weight and measurements record, an optional movements record, a bag for the birth checklist, a baby names shortlist, a things to get checklist and a contacts page.
  • Birth plan: a short guide, a two-page example and your own two pages, written as preferences to discuss with your care team.
  • After the birth: how to use the daily log, one day filled in, 14 daily log pages and a spare to print again, a first-weeks appointments and growth record, and three memory pages.

What you download

  • The book in US Letter and A4, for reading on screen.
  • A fillable edition in both sizes, for typing into on a computer.
  • A print edition in both sizes, light on ink and clear in black and white, in one ZIP.

Good to know

  • Written for readers in the UK, the US and elsewhere. Where the words differ you get both, as in nappy / diaper. Weights and lengths have no unit printed, so you write kg or lb, cm or in.
  • It does not assume a partner, a hospital birth, a first baby or how you will feed.
  • Undated, so you can start at any week and print it again for another pregnancy.
  • Write-in lines are at least 8 mm apart and tick boxes are at least 5 mm, so there is room to write.
  • The fillable edition is made for a desktop PDF reader such as the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. Many phone and tablet apps do not keep typed entries; to handwrite on a tablet, use the print edition.
  • Print at 100% or "actual size", not "fit to page".

This is a journal and record book, not a medical guide. It gives no medical advice and prints no targets for weight, movements, feeding or sleep. For anything about your health or your baby's health, ask your midwife or doctor.
