A good ebook template is a fixed structure you fill in: a title page, a contents page, an introduction that states the promise, a run of chapters that each solve one part of the problem, a short conclusion and a page about you. Below is a reusable outline, the shape of a single chapter, what every ebook should contain and how to set the template up in Canva or a word processor.

The ebook template: a reusable outline
Copy this outline into a new document and replace each line with your own content.
| Section | What goes in it | Rough length |
|---|---|---|
| Title page | Title, subtitle that says what the book does, your name | One page |
| Copyright page | Your name, the year, "All rights reserved", any disclaimer | One page |
| Contents | Chapter titles, linked in the file | One page |
| Introduction | Who the book is for, the promise, how to use it | 300 to 800 words |
| Chapters 1 to 7 or so | One step or topic each, in the order the reader needs them | Even lengths, roughly |
| Conclusion | The key points in a few lines and the first thing to do next | 200 to 500 words |
| Resources | Checklists, templates, further reading | As needed |
| About the author | Who you are and why you can help, in a short paragraph | Half a page |
| Where to find more | Your storefront link and other products | A few lines |
Five to ten chapters suits most practical ebooks. If a chapter keeps growing, split it; if two are thin, merge them.
The ebook structure inside each chapter
Give every chapter the same shape, so readers know where they are:
- The problem. One or two sentences on what this chapter solves.
- The teaching. The steps, the explanation, the method.
- An example. A real case, a worked example or a short story from your own experience.
- An action. A checklist, an exercise or a question for the reader to answer.
- A one-line summary, and what the next chapter covers.
What every ebook should contain
- A clear promise on the first pages, so a reader knows they bought the right book.
- A contents page with working links.
- Chapters in a logical order, each with a heading the reader can scan.
- At least one practical action per chapter.
- A copyright line, and a disclaimer if the book touches health, money or law.
- An "about the author" page and a link back to your shop.
How to create an ebook in Canva
Canva works well for ebooks with a designed look, such as illustrated guides and workbooks. Start from a document or ebook template at the page size you want, or a blank page. Design three page types first: a chapter opener, a body page and a page with a checklist or exercise, then duplicate those for every chapter so the styles stay consistent. Keep body text large enough to read on a phone. When you are done, download it as a PDF, and check the licence of any elements and photos you used.
Turn it into a template you reuse
Once your first ebook is finished, save a blank copy with the heading styles, fonts, colours and page types still in place. Your next book then starts from a working layout rather than an empty page. For the writing itself, follow how to write an ebook.
From template to product
A filled-in template becomes a product as soon as it is exported and listed. On Bookstorez you upload the PDF or EPUB, a cover and a description, and the ebook gets its own page and a place in the ebooks catalogue. See how selling on Bookstorez works.
